Wireless Body Area Network is used to monitor a body motion using sensor or any devices without a wired connection. Usage of wireless network and constant diminish of electrical devices empowered a development of Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs). Wireless Body Area Network Omnet++ Projects is an event simulator for various wireless networks.

Wireless body area network connect independent node such as sensors and actuators which may be deployed in cloth or on body (or) under skin. Extension of network is implemented in human body and nodes are connected by a wireless communication channel. Many practical applications are developed by wireless sensor network to improve health care and quality of life.

Wireless body area network are categorized into two types:

In- body area Network:

Communication is established between invasive (or) implanted devices and base station.

On- body Area Network:

Communication is established between a non- invasive (or) wearable devices and base station.

Lowest level:

WBAN consist of set of intelligent sensors (or) nodes. These are also called as reduced function device. It provides communication only for root node and cannot act as root.

Second level:

It functioned as a personal server’s called internet enabled PDA (or) home computer. It referred as a full function device. It provides communication with their nodes as well as with external network.

Final Level:

It acts a remote server used for remote application to the respective data (or) transformation of information.

Categories of Sensors:

Ambient sensors:

Environmental condition such as temperature, pressure level, light, sound and humidity are calculated.

Physiological sensors:

Various measures such as continuous glucose monitoring, electrocardiography (ECG), electromyography (EMG), Plethysmography, oxygen blood cont, blood pressure and core body temperature.

Bio kinetic sensors:

Various measures such as acceleration and angular rotation are calculated.

WBAN are implemented with Omnet++ by a specialized framework of Castalia.
